The Warriors women's soccer team wrapped up their 2022 season with two big home wins over the visiting Algoma Thunderbirds this past weekend. Waterloo outscored the T-Birds 14-2 to earn six points.
Although the young Warriors squad had a tough season, the black and gold came on strong at the end of the season including a road victory over nationally ranked Western and two big home wins over Algoma.
In their 8-0 win on Saturday, the Warriors were led by
Samantha Desouza (Brampton/) who scored four goals including two in a span of six minutes in the second half. Also scoring for Waterloo was
Alexa Cimermancic (Kitchener/),
Jenny Ha (Kitchener/),
Priyanka Chakravarti (Richmond Hill/), and
Megan Cordi (Maple/).
Hannah Petrosino (Conestogo/) earned the clean sheet in net.
On Sunday,
Samantha Desouza (Brampton/) put two more past the Algoma keeper giving her six on the weekend as the Warriors earned a 6-2 victory over Algoma.
Isabelle Pavlich (Richmond Hill/) added two while
Taite Sinkeldam (Guelph/) and Chakravarti each put one in.
The Warriors will ride the momentum of a strong finish into the off-season as they look ahead to a promising 2023 season.
