The Warriors five game road trip to open 2019-20 season came to an end with two losses to Lakehead and York this past weekend.
On Friday night, the Warriors stuck with the stingy Thunderwolves squad but could only muster five points in the final quarter as they fell by a score of 68-48. Leading the way was rookie forward Sonja Mattews who put up 11 points while another rookie Viktoia Cubelic had six. On the boards, it was one more rookie doing damaga as
Azaliah Colquhoun (Cambridge/) collected a team high eight rebounds.
On Saturday, Waterloo's offence got rolling but unfortunately could not stop the Lions who took out Watelroo 84-72.
The reigning OUA rookie of the year,
Kaitlyn Overeem (Brantford/) had her best game of the young season with 21 points, going 7-for-17 from the field and 4-for-7 from the line.
Vanessa Hughes (Hamilton/) was also in double digits with 13 points while
Aphia Ward (Beaumont, AB/) had nine and Matthews eight. Cubelic was again big on the boards with a game high 10 rebounds.
