Beth Howlett (Burlington) put together the best game of her rookie season with 18 points in 29 minutes in a 63-47 loss to the Brock Badgers on Saturday night at the PAC. Howlett also had five rebounds and one assist in the loss.
The Warriors found themselves down just two (31-29) after the opening half but were outscored 19-6 in the second quarter and could not recover as the black and gold dropped to 4-10 on the season. With the win Brock moved to .500 at 7-7.
The Warriors received a big blow as starter
Aphia Ward (Beaumont/) went down early in the contest and would not return, forcing Waterloo to go to their bench early and often.
As a team Waterloo shot 30.2% from the field compared to 35.8% for Brock. The Badgers were also big on the boards with 43 rebounds while Waterloo had 29.
Kaitlyn Overeem (Brantford/) had nine points in the loss while
Meghan Sharp (Kitchener/) had seven. Brock was led by Miranda Smith who had a game high 19 points while Melissa Tatti had 11 and eight rebounds.
Waterloo will be back in action this Wednesday night in Windsor with tip-off set for 6pm.
