The New Year has been kind to the women's basketball program as the Warriors posted their second straight win of 2018.
After defeating Seneca College 75-52 two nights prior in exhibition action, the Warriors earned their first conference win of the year, topping Algoma 74-69 at the PAC on Friday night.
Afifa Salad (Cambridge/) was outstanding for the black and gold putting up a career high 22 points in 19 minutes of action. The second year guard went 9-for-11 with one three pointer and also enjoyed success at the line going 3-for-5.Â
Three other Warriors chipped in offensively as
Aphia Ward (Beaumont/) (11 points),
Hilary Ferguson (Cambridge/) (11 points) and
Ann Stewart (Yellowknife/) (10 points) all hit double digits. Ferguson was also big on the boards leading the way with seven rebounds.Â
The Warriors played solid defensive basketball, forcing Algoma into 18 turnovers which the black and gold converted into 20 points.
