Aphia Ward (Beaumont/) put up a career high 16 points and it could have been more if not for a last minute call that went against the second year guard. The Warriors lost the battle of Waterloo contest 62-58 in a very spirited effort by the black and gold.
Ward had the ball in her hands with under a minute to play with her Warriors down just two, made a strong drive to the lane and layed it in for the two and appeared to have an and-one but the call went against her as a charge was called. Laurier got the ball back and went down to make two free throws to pick up the four point victory.
Ward went 6-for-14 from the field while hitting four from beyond the arc. She also had seven rebounds in a strong losing effort.
Ann Stewart (Yellowknife/) had a solid game as well with 11 points and 13 boards while Sydney Wislon was also in double digits with 10.
Julia Pavlik (Waterloo/) rounded out the attack with nine, including two three-balls in the second half to get her Warriors back into the game.
Nicole Morrison did what she does best putting up a game high 24 points in the win.
Waterloo is back at it tonight in St. Catharines against the Badgers.
