It's been a good start to the OUA season for the women's soccer team, a really good start. Waterloo improved to 2-0-2 on the weekend with two big wins over Algoma to remain undefeated on the season.
On Saturday afternoon, it was the
Stephanie Penta (Kitchener/) show as the third year defended tallied four of Waterloo's six goals in a 6-0 shutout victory over the Thunderbirds. What was even more impressive was that all of Penta's goals came in the second half, in a span of 38 minutes. The Warriors got their other two goals off the foot of
Ciara Dunne (Waterloo/) and
Hannah Rempel (Waterloo/).
Madison McDonald (Kitchener/) picked up the shutout in net making five stops.
On Sunday, Waterloo again controlled the play from start to finish, topping the T-Birds 5-1. Five different Warriors found the scoresheet to propel Waterloo to victory. Penta scored for her fifth goal of the weekend while
Kendra Wynter (Oakville/),
Danielle Erb (Waterdown/),
Aysun Osmansoy (Waterloo/), and
Kaitlyn Unger (Ajax/) all chipped in with one each.
Waterloo is currently in second spot in the OUA with eight points just two back of Guelph who occupies the top spot.
