Box Score It always seems to be a contest the Warriors women's soccer team gets up for and last night was no exception as Waterloo earned a 2-2 draw with the Laureir Golden Hawks in the second and final edition of the battle of Waterloo. Â
Rookie midfielder
Samantha Code (Waterloo) waited for the perfect time to score her first career goal as the environmental science student knotted the game at two's in extra time to give her Warriors their second draw of the season. Â For Laurier it was their fifth draw of the season, making their record 4-1-5 on the season while Waterloo is now 0-7-2.
Waterloo held a 1-0 lead into half as
Natalia Villegas (Kitchener) netted her first of the season as well. Â
Hannah Rempel (Waterloo) picked up the assist on the only goal of the first half.
The Hawks came back with two goals in 17 minutes in the second half as Jacky Normandeau and Katie Bishop beat Warrior keeper
Findley Dunn (Toronto). Â
Laurier looked destined to take three points from the black and gold but Code had other ideas putting one past Hawk keeper Ashely Almeida as the home side had to settle for just one point.
Dunn finished with four saves in the draw while Almeida had two.
The Warriors are back in action with another night game this time on Warrior Field as they play host to the York Lions at 6pm.
