Box Score 2 The Warriors played their final two home games of the season in what were must-win matches but unfortunately came away with 2-1 losses in both. Â The black and gold fell to York 2-1 on Friday before losing to Windsor by that same score on Sunday. Â
The losses mean the Warriors will most the post-season with their record of 4-10-1 but the Warriors should not hang their hands in what was a very positive season competing with some of the top programs in the country. Â
In Friday's contest the Warriors fell behind 2-0 to the undefeated York Lions who scored two goals in six minutes (53' and 59') but the resilient Warriors showed some fight, getting one back in the 67th minute as
Kaitlyn Unger (Ajax) fired home her third of the season. Â The Warriors could not sustain enough pressure down the stretch to find the equalizer and would fall to the No. 2 team in the country.
On Sunday, Waterloo continued to play solid football against another competitive OUA east team, the Windsor Lancers. Â The two combatants would exchange goals in the opening half as Becca Feurth put away the game's opening goal into a gaping net at the 34th minute while
Aysun Osmansoy (Waterloo) answered for Waterloo in the 40th minute. Â Osmansoy's cross from outside the 18 yard box deflected in off the Windsor defender for her third of the season.
The Lancers would take the lead in the 51st minute on a goal by Jazmin Martin and despite continuous pressure, the home side could not tally the game's tying goal as they would fall 2-1 for the second straight game.
The Warriors will wrap up their season next Saturday in St. Catharines agains the Brock Badgers (4-9-1).
