Mustangs Dominate Warriors in a 4-0 Offensive Outburst

Box Score The Waterloo Warriors women's soccer team was shutout by a dominant Western Mustangs team on Wednesday afternoon on Warrior Field. Western maintained possession throughout the game and limited Waterloo's scoring opportunities. Waterloo falls to 0-3 on the season with the loss.

Waterloo's goaltender Lesia Bandura (Kitchener/) was tested early and often in this contest and made a number of key saves to give her team a chance. Waterloo allowed Western's first goal to Amanda Boyle in the 9th minute off a giveaway from the back four.

Jess Friend added a second tally for Western off a header in the 22nd minute after an excellent initial save by Bandura. Waterloo would escape the half down 2-0. Bandura made 2 saves in the game.

Warriors made a goaltending switch at halftime and Madison McDonald (Kitchener/) got the call. McDonald was tested in the 47th minute and made a huge save on a header off a spot kick but conceded Westerns third goal a few minutes later. Mustangs would add one more tally before tightening up defensively to maintain the lob-sided victory. McDonald played admirably making 7 saves in the effort.

The Warriors will now have a 10 day break before hosting Brock and McMaster, respectively on September 13th and 14th. The Warriors will need to find a way to produce some offence as they search for their first win of the season.
