Warriors fail to find net in opening weekend

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 It was a difficult start to the season for the women's soccer team facing off against tough OUA competition in back-to-back days.  The Warriors would lose their season opener 3-0 on the road against Guelph before falling to Laurier on Sunday at home, 4-0.

Despite not finding the net the Warriors hung tough with one of the top teams in the country, Laurier who took advantage of their chances when presented with them.  Emily Brown was unstoppable for the Hawks tallying two goals in the opening half while Maxine Murchie had the other two markers.

Waterloo's best chance came off the foot of Tara Butterworth (Waterloo/) who hit the crossbar in the 35th minute, just before Murchie made it 2-0 for Laurier in the 35th minute.  Brown's second goal in the 42nd minute made it 3-0 Laurier and the squad in purple would cruise to the 4-0 victory.

Rookie keeper Madison McDonald (Kitchener/) made her Warrior debut and split the game with veteran goalie Lesia Bandura (Kitchener/).

The Warriors will look for their first win of the season when they take to Warrior Field on Wednesday at 4pm.  They welcome the Western Mustangs to north campus.
