Late goal sinks Warriors on black and gold day

Emily Deckert wins the ball over a Marauder player
The McMaster Marauders tallied the one and only goal in the 85th minute to hand Waterloo a 1-0 loss in the opening match of black and gold day on Saturday afternoon.  Over 2,000 first year students and members of the Waterloo Minor Soccer Club were in attendance for a great day of celebrating soccer in the Waterloo region.

The Warriors stuck with the gritty Marauders side throughout the contest but had a momentary let down in the late going allowing McMaster to take full advantage and secure the three points in the standings.

The goal came off the head of Taylor Lambert who made a nice deflection past keeper Lesia Bandura (Kitchener/) who was solid all day for the black and gold.  Bandura finished the game with eight saves in the loss.  McMaster goalie Christina Abbatangelo was only forced to make three saves for the shutout.

Waterloo soccer would like to thank all who made black and gold day such a huge success including the orientation committee and the Waterloo Minor Soccer Club.
