Game Summary

Waterloo dropped to 0-5-1 on the season following a 1-0 loss to the Western Mustangs on Sunday afternoon in London.

After a scoreless first half the second got off to an exciting start. Western garnered a direct kick and Sabrina DeNard hammered a great shot only to be foiled by the Warriors keeper Lesia Bandura (Kitchener/).

Western's endurance in the second half was evident. Hannah Kennedy outran Waterloo's defense and from the right side she just missed the far left post. There was a nice ball into the center by Krista Lee, but Bandura remained solid throughout the game proving that it was going to take some crafty footwork to catch her off guard.

Sabrina DeNard eventually managed to find the net for Western and scored on a direct kick with a clean shot into the left corner for the 1-0 Western lead. In the late going, Waterloo's Rebecca Kong (Pickering/) tried to breakaway down the field, but was tamed by Western's keeper Keltie Brigham to secure the victory.

The Warriors return home next weekend to face the Brock Badgers on Saturday and UOIT Ridgebacks on Sunday.  Both games are set for 1pm at Warrior Field.
