Balanced attacked leads Gaels to victory over Warriors

The Warrior men's rugby team dropped to 1-2 on the season following a tight 22-12 loss to the Queen's Gaels on Friday evening in Waterloo.  With the win the Gaels moved to 2-0 on the season with their first victory coming at home against Toronto.

The Warriors and Gaels battled for field position in the first half with only a try to separate the two squads heading into the second as the Gaels held the slight lead. 

The second half saw Queen's pressure the Warriors defense picking up a late game try to secure a 22-12 victory.

Scoring tries for the Gaels were the Richardson (Patrick and Tim) twins of Vancouver, B.C., who each contributed five points to the offence while third year back row Matthew Kelly (Toronto, Ont.) added the third try.  Rounding out the scoring was Liam Underwood (Toronto, Ont.) who was successful on two of three convert attempts and a penalty goal for seven points.

Scoring for the Warriors was fifth year centre Tyler Haladuick (Calgary/) and fourth year hooker Dan Snider (Waterloo/) who each had a try in the losing effort.  Richard Lebel (Waterloo/) was successful on one of two convert attempts to give him four converts on the season.

Next up for the Warriors is a home match against the Western Mustangs on Friday, September 23.  Kickoff is set for 4:00pm at the CIF fields.
