Women's soccer fall to Windsor and Western in weekend action

The Warriors continue to search for their first victory of the season falling to 0-1-2 on the season after a 2-0 loss to the Windsor Lancers on Saturday afternoon. 

The first half opened up with both teams competing for field advantage with Windsor gaining the edge late in the first half as third year forward Kelly Riccardi (Tecumseh, Ont.) opened the scoring at the 42nd minute to give the Lancers a lead heading into the second half.

Play continued back and forth in the second half with both keepers making several big stops. Windsor would add an insurance marker at the 83rd minute as rookie striker Alyshia Phillips (Windsor, Ont.) netted her first goal as a Lancer to secure a 2-0 victory over the Warriors.

Next up for the Warriors is a match with the Western Mustangs on Sunday afternoon in London at 1:00pm.

Western 3, Waterloo 0

Waterloo lost their second straight game falling to the Western Mustangs 3-0 on Sunday afternoon in London.

Midfielder Jenn Spinozzi (Sarnia, Ont.) opened the scoring for the Mustangs at the 25th minute. Anna Keller (Bayfield, Ont.) and Courtney Stocks (Toronto, Ont.) scored second half goals for the purple squad to give Western the shutout win and improve their record to 2-1. Waterloo fell to 0-2-2 on the season as they continue to look for three points.

Next up for Waterloo is a match with the Brock Badgers in St. Catharines on Saturday, September 17 followed by a home game against the McMaster Marauders on Sunday.
