Box Score WATERLOO, Ont. - The Laurier Golden Hawks moved to .500 on the season with a convincing 69-3 victory over the Waterloo Warriors on Thursday evening at Warrior Field.

Receiver Shamawd Chambers (Markham, Ont.) and running back Rashad La Touche (Whitby, Ont.) each had two majors on the night while quarterback Shane Kelly (Basking Ridge, N.J.) threw for 303 yards to lift the Hawks to their third win of the season.

With the loss Waterloo fell to 0-6 on the season while Laurier improved to 3-3 and appear to be back on track with decisive wins in the past two weeks.

Offensively the Hawks put up 659 total yards including 353 in the air while Waterloo had 294 offensive yards with 146 on the ground and 148 passing yards.

Laurier got on the board seven minutes into the game as Kelly found Marc Surya (Burlington, Ont.) wide open for a 24 yard pass to put Laurier up 7-0.  Only two minutes later the Hawks would once again go to the air with Chambers corralling one of his two touchdowns on a 22 yard strike from Kelly to go up by 14.

Before the end of the first quarter La Touche would add to the Hawks lead on a strong 16 yard run to give the Hawks a comfortable 21-0 lead.  Before quarter time was up La Touche would fumble the ball with Warrior defensive end Corey Bince (Mississauga/) recovering the ball on the Hawks side of the field to set up good field position heading into the second quarter but the Warriors were unable to capitalize.

With 9:31 remaining in the half, Waterloo would score their only points of the game on a successful 20 yard field goal by kicker Jake Fiorucci (Niagara Falls/)  to make the score 21-3.

Following some sloppy offensive plays and several Laurier penalties the Hawks would once again find their offensive stride with Kelly hooking up with Chambers, this time on a nine yard pass to give the Hawks a 28-3 lead.  A 41 yard field goal by Ronnie Pfeffer (Kitchener, Ont.) late in the quarter would give the Hawks a 31-3 lead heading into halftime.

Laurier continued to pour on the offensive stats in the second half with hometown receiver Dillon Heap (Waterloo, Ont.) earning a 30 yard gain setting up a two yard touchdown run for La Touche, his second of the game to put Laurier in front 38-3.

The Hawks would put away the Warriors in the fourth quarter with four more majors and a field goal to secure a 69-3 victory.  Receivers Alex Anthony (Victoria, B.C.) and Karsten Beney (Waterloo, Ont.) would each add touchdowns on 11 and 50 yard receptions while running back's Asthon Rochester (Oakville, Ont.) and Tyrrel Wilson (Hamilton, Ont.) ran for 35 and 39 yard scores to round out the offensive output for the Hawks.

La Touche led all rushers with 132 yards on 18 carries while Warriors quarterback Luke Balch (London/) ran for 111 yards on 12 carries.  In the air Chambers caught four passes for 76 yards while Dustin Zender (Kitchener/)  of the Warriors caught 10 passes for 97 yards.

Waterloo (0-6) and Laurier (3-3) both have the weekend off before getting back to action next weekend with the Hawks welcoming the McMaster Marauders (5-1) to University Stadium which can be seen live on the Score Television Network while the Warriors travel to Kingston to face the Queen's Gaels (3-2).  Both games are set to kickoff at 1pm.
