Warriors lose twice ending their playoff chances

Saturday, Oct. 16 @ McMaster
McMaster 4, Waterloo 0

Sophomore midfielder Alicja Giftopoulos (Ancaster, Ont.) scored two goals this afternoon in McMaster's final conference home game to lead the Marauders in their 4-0 blanking of the Waterloo Warriors.

Samantha McLaren (Oakville, Ont.) and Emma Mangialardi (Oakville, Ont.) added the additional two Marauder goals while keeper Brittany Duffey (Markham, Ont.) made five saves for the shut out.

The Marauders jump to 7-3-3 for second place in the OUA West with one game remaining in their conference season.  They will take care of their final game tomorrow, Sunday, October 17 in Waterloo where they will play the division leading Laurier Golden Hawks (9-1-2).

Sunday, Oct. 17 vs. Guelph
Guelph 2, Waterloo 1

The Warriors lost a hard fought battle to Guelph 2-1.  Knowing that a loss would end their playoff chances, Waterloo put on a full-out offensive attack but came up short and will miss the 2010 OUA playoffs.

Scoring for Guelph was Erica Bain and Kristen Southgate while Waterloo's Elise Bingeman (Thunder Bay, Ont.) scored her first of the season in the losing effort.
